Fluid Dynamics. My PhD project focuses on the stability of interfacial flows. It involves an investigation of the stability of various interfacial flow phenomena: for example the stability of one viscous layer overlying another resting on a plane wall; and the stability of a cylindrical interface coating the outside of a cylindrical core fluid. In each case, the role of an insoluble surfactant, with its attendant Marangoni forces, will be studied in detail.
