The School of Mathematics at UEA is a flourishing department committed to excellence in teaching and research. An external inspection of teaching quality by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education awarded the School 23 points out of a maximum possible of 24, making it one of the highest-rated departments in the country. The School has an international reputation for its research across a broad range of pure and applied topics. At the last Research Assessment Exercise, Pure Mathematics was awarded a 5 rating and Applied Mathematics a 4 rating. Undergraduates benefit from the lively research climate in the department, and are taught by leading researchers in several different fields of mathematics.
