Entering Special Characters and Mathematical Symbols into HTML

HTML has special mark-ups for a large number of characters beyond just those normally present on the standard keyboard. In addition, on this server only, some additions to standard HTML have been provided in order to allow for the entry of upper- and lower-case greek characters and some special symbols used in mathematics. All of these special mark-ups are given in the following tables. The tables show the character, as you want it to appear, followed by the mark-up which you must enter into the HTML in order to get it.

Additionally, the table for the special ISO characters provides the standard typographer's name of the character. You may scroll directly to a particular table by clicking on the following anchors:
