The UEA is working with Norfolk County Council’s Environment Team and Active Norfolk (Norfolk’s Health Partnership) to evaluate a project to get older people more active.

The project SAIL (Staying Active and Independent Longer) aims to develop innovative partnerships and work with the leisure and tourism industry. It builds on a previous project run by Active Norfolk ‘Mobile Me’ that bought physical activity into care settings and sheltered housing.

The first stage of SAIL is to consult with potential delivery partners and other key informants; this information will be used to design the project. The project will then be run and evaluated.  Essential to SAIL is the idea of innovation and collaboration.  UEA’s role is to assist with consultation and with evaluation of the programme when it goes into delivery stage.

SAIL is EU funded and involves ten partners across Europe doing different, but complementary projects.
