Teaching Interests

My main teaching activity and interest is quantitative research methods and critical appraisal for MB/BS undergraduates, postgraduates and other health professionals. I use a wide variety of methods for teaching and learning, including using online quizzes with immediate feedback, screencasts, webpages and responsive platforms for material.

Activities include:

  • Research methods (statistics, epidemiology and study design) for MB/BS students. The role includes lecturing, seminar-leading and tutoring, creating learning materials for individual learning, and also teaching and assessing critical appraisal of medical research articles
From 2005 to 2011 I have been module coordinator in quantitative Research Methods for Year 2 and 2011 to 2016 for Year 1
  • Teaching Masters students in quantitative methods
  • Tutoring and assessing student research for oral presentation
  • Member of the MED School Assessment Group
  • School Plagiarism officer from 2009, includes teaching students, training staff (within and outside the School) and investigating and judging alleged cases
  • Training fellow staff members in plagiarism/collusion policy and practice
  • Active in University policy reviews of plagiarism/collusion
