Key Research Interests

My research programme is focused on bioactive compounds present in plants, with interest in their metabolism, bioavailability and health effects, using a combination of cell/in vitro models and human studies, and working in collaboration with colleagues both nationally and internationally. On-going projects include research on:

  • Cardiometabolic effects of flavonoids and other bioactives [trials and prospective studies with the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (Rimm)]
  • Factors affecting the in vivo bioavailability of flavonoids
  • Molecular mechanisms of flavonoids
  • Effects of genotype on flavonoid metabolism
