School Celebrates Green Award
This academic year, the School of Mathematics at UEA has taken part in an NUS scheme called Green Impact, which aims at promoting sustainability, and has been granted a Bronze Award. It was obtained through a series of actions such as raising awareness and informing people on how they can reduce waste and optimize their energy uses. Using more environmental-friendly means of transport was encouraged with the Cycle4Citrus day: staff and postgraduate students could claim for a citrus had they cycled to work. Finally, the coffee club has become greener: it now provides fairtrade tea and coffee. The school is hoping to build upon this green momentum and aims at getting a Silver Award for next year's Green Impact at UEA.
