Composer Benjamin Britten, novelist Angus Wilson and Solly Zuckerman, the Government's first Chief Scientific Adviser, each played a part in shaping this University. Now we are looking to a new generation of inspirational advisers to help us achieve our aims. All have strong links with the University and are leaders in their fields.
Professor Sir Paul Nurse FRS
UEA alumnus (School of Biological Sciences), former Director of Cancer Research UK, Nobel Prize winner (2001) and current President of Rockefeller University, New York.
Professor Sir David King FRS FRSC
Former UEA lecturer and Chief Scientific Adviser to the Government. Currently Director of the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment at Oxford University and Director of Research (Chemical Physics) and Cambridge University.
Jenny Abramsky CBE
UEA alumna (School of English and American Studies), former Director of BBC Music and Audio and recently appointed chair of the Heritage Lottery Fund and National Heritage Memorial Fund.
Ian McEwan CBE FRSL
UEA almunus (School of English and American Studies) and UEA's first graduate of the MA in Creative Writing, writer and Man Booker prize-winner.
