Current Fundraising

The University is currently fundraising for the following projects:

Alan Katritzky Studentship Fund
Current fundraisingAlan Katritzky was appointed in 1962 as Foundation Professor to lead chemistry in the School of Physical Sciences, and then as Founding Dean of the independant School of Chemical Sciences. Alan introduced many innovations in both teaching and research at the University and established the strong research reputation which still exists today. His contributions to Organic Chemistry, Heterocyclic Chemistry in particular, have been truly exceptional throughout a long and distinguished career.

Before Alan left the University to take up the Kenan Chair at the University of Floria at Gainsville in 1980, he had worked with over 800 postgraduate students and post doctoral fellows and has maintained a close network of friends and colleagues across the globe. On the occasion of his 80th birthday in 2008, the University was delighted to launch the Alan Katritzky Studentship Fund, which plans to endow one or more studentships to support postgraduate research students enrolling on a chemistry-based discipline in the School of Chemical Sciences and Pharmacy. Our target is £100,000 which will enable one high achieving student to be awarded the studentship every three years. If we exceed our target, we will be able to support more students. Recipients will be known as the Alan Katritzky Students.
