The glitz and glamour of ballroom dancing will come to the University of East Anglia (UEA) this weekend when it hosts a national student dancing competition.
More than 200 students from across the country will descend on the Sportspark
on January 26 for the day-long event.
Dancers from Cambridge, Warwick, Nottingham, Durham, Leicester, Southampton, Kent and the Union of London Universities will compete throughout the day in a variety of ballroom and Latin styles.
Student society UEA Dancesport
is organising the logistics of the Inter-Varsity Dancesport Competition. UEA has 36 competitors taking part, including some who have been dancing for many years and those who only joined the club this year.
President of UEA Dancesport, Gurdas Singh Sually, said: “We are really excited and looking forward to being able to compete at UEA. Hosting this competition has given us a chance to showcase the amazing facilities we have here as well as the developing talent we have within the club.
“It is a great opportunity for our dancers to be able to compete at a national level in front of friends and family, whist building ties with other universities across the country. This is set to be a unique event for UEA and we hope that everyone involved has a wonderful day!”
The event will run from 10am-10pm on Saturday January 26 in the Sportspark, UEA. Spectators are welcome to come and watch the event, and entry is free.
