Business courses on offer to boost career prospects

Tue, 19 Jun 2012

The University of East Anglia will be holding an open evening to highlight Master of Business Administration (MBA) courses available in its Norwich Business School on July 10.

The school has recently gained accreditation by the Association of MBAs (AMBA), an accolade granted to 1.4% of the business schools in the world.

Potential students who go to the event will get the chance to find out about the courses, which are designed to accelerate career prospects by helping students build on past business experience while learning new skills and business methods, and combining theoretical knowledge with the realities of the workplace.

The MBA programme has been created to help students develop the necessary skills, knowledge and confidence to lead organisations successfully through innovation, customer focus and talent management.

As well as the full-time MBA, Norwich Business School runs an Executive MBA, which can be studied part time over 27 months while working full time. It also offers the pioneering MBA in Strategic Carbon Management.

There are a number of ‘early bird’ scholarships currently available for the course, worth 50 per cent of the course fee, and applicable to applications received by July 31.

All courses start in January and do not involve a traditional dissertation. Instead, students undertake a management consultancy skills module comprising two consultancy projects to help them gain valuable real-life experience while they study.

Throughout the open evening current students, graduates and course directors will be on hand to talk about the MBA experience and answer questions from potential students. Examples of work, including the consultancy projects, will also be presented.

The event runs from 6 - 8.30pm on Tuesday, July 10, at the Thomas Paine Study Centre, UEA, Norwich. To find out more, visit the NBS website www.business.uea.ac.uk/mba-programmes, or contact Jane English on j.english@uea.ac.uk or 01603 591753.
