Children attending the University of the East Anglia Nursery are provided with "the highest quality care and education", according to its latest Ofsted report.
The nursery, which caters for children from six weeks old, was graded as ‘outstanding’ in every category of the assessment, carried out last month.
Since the nursery’s last inspection in 2007 staff have established a Forest School, which is an innovative educational approach to outdoor play and learning, using the outdoor environment to teach children about problem-solving and social interaction.
They have also introduced the 'Every Child's A Talker' programme to encourage communication, and now use British Sign Language throughout the nursery – both of which were positively noted in the new report.
Staff were praised for their high levels of training and experience, and their “in depth understanding of every child’s background”, allowing all children to feel welcome and involved with day-to-day life at the nursery.
This was especially evident in the nursery’s approach to children with specific needs, who were described as being “extremely well provided for and fully integrated into the nursery because staff are knowledgeable and confident in their roles.”
Also highly commended was the nursery’s unique approach to nutrition, which sees children offered an exclusively vegetarian menu prepared fresh on site every day by a dedicated chef.
The latest outstanding Ofsted report comes only months after the nursery’s staff won a national Shine A Light award for their work in supporting children’s communication development in the early years.
Nursery manager Anne Meyer said: “We were delighted that the inspector acknowledged how motivated, enthusiastic and happy our children are in their learning and development because they are cared for by staff who are inspiring and have a full understanding of how children learn best.”
“In the Ofsted report the inspector said that 'the needs of each and every child are fully met through recognising the uniqueness of each child and highly effective partnerships with parents promote outstanding education and care.’
“It is wonderful to see that the hard work and dedication of the staff is being recognised with such a positive report.”
