Holly Maples is currently researching a large project on commemoration, identity and the State in the United States, Ireland and the United Kingdom. Her Ph.D. research on Commemoration and the Irish National Theatre at Trinity College Dublin is currently in negotiations for publication with Peter Lang. She is a theatre director and practitioner as well as a performance studies scholar. Her current research interests include issues of identity and the nation in civic performance practice, and embodiment and the public sphere in early twentieth century social dance. She also is working to combine practice and scholarship through her work as a member of the Performance Based Research working group for the International Federation of Theatre Studies. She is interested in supervising research in the area of Performance and Culture Studies, Popular Entertainment, Reception Theory, Performing Irishness and the performance of national identities and social change.
