The School of Literature, Drama and Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia has a long-established reputation for innovation and excellence in literary studies.
In 2014, UEA was ranked joint tenth in the UK for the quality of its research in English Language and Literature (Times Higher REF 2014 Analysis), with 82 per cent of our research rated either 4* (world leading) or 3* (internationally excellent). We are home to prize-winning scholars, writers and translators of literature and drama from all periods, and we are world famous for our pioneering courses in creative writing.
The School has exceptionally high satisfaction ratings for its courses and teaching. The Guardian’s league table of English courses across the UK showed that 93% of our students are satisfied with their teaching (Guardian University Guide 2019), and UEA is ranked 8th in the UK in The Complete University Guide 2019 for Creative Writing.
Our calendar is packed with public events including the annual UEA Literary Festival, the FLY Festival of Literature for Young People, and UEA Live, where students can present their work alongside published authors.
