Biography

B.J. Epstein joined UEA in 2009 after finishing her Ph.D. in translation studies at Swansea University. Her thesis was on how figurative language is employed and translated in children’s literature. She is also a writer, editor, and translator from the Scandinavian languages to English.

B. J. Epstein is currently working on several projects. She is writing a book about how figurative language is employed and translated in children’s literature. Another project is on how LGBTQ characters are represented in children’s literature. She is also looking at how the Holocaust is portrayed in children's books. Additionally, she is researching how detective fiction is translated.
