UEA's well-established undergraduate and postgraduate Translation Work Experience units in the School of Language, Linguistics and Translation Studies, in successful partnership with the local community, provide an important vocational dimension for students. Since 2001, display, soundtrack and brochure material has been translated for the Norwich Castle Museum, and for the Origins Exhibition in Norwich's Forum. The Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts' impressive visitors' brochure has also been translated, as have texts for the Strasbourg Alsatian Museum in France, the Sandefjord whaling museum in Norway, and the prestigious Kyushu Ceramics Museum in Japan.

The range of languages translated into in the context of the these units includes Chinese, French, German, Greek, Japanese, Spanish, and Norwegian.
