Studying at a University
If you wish to study in Spain, you can take a student exchange place under the EC Erasmus scheme - more on this on the UEA International Office site.
We have exchanges with Alcalá de Henares (www.uah.es/), Alicante (www.ua.es/), Castilla La Mancha - a large university with 4 campuses; we have exchanges with 2 of the campuses, Castilla La Mancha Ciudad Real and Castilla La Mancha Toledo (www.uclm.es/), Granada (www.ugr.es/), Madrid at either Universidad Autonoma de Madrid (www.ua.es/) or Universidad Complutense de Madrid (www.ucm.es/), Salamanca (www.usal.es/), Pablo de Olavide, Sevilla (www.upo.es/www.upo.es), Toledo (www.uclm.es/) and Zaragoza (www.unizar.es/) and Universidad Antonio de Nebrija, Madrid (www.nebrija.com). At present, if you spend the whole year as an Erasmus exchange student, you currently do not pay fees to UEA. This is reviewed annually. You normally receive an Erasmus grant and study full-time. You can still receive your usual student finance while abroad. Spanish semesters run from about mid September to mid January and February to June.
You can study in Mexico at one of two exchange universities: Universidad de las Americas (UDLA) in Puebla and Universidad de Guadalajara (UDG). UDLA (www.udla.mx/) is about two hours' bus ride from Mexico City. It is a new and privately run campus university with approximately 8000 students.
UDG (www.udg.mx/) is about six hours' coach ride from Mexico City and has about 70,000 students. It is state run and not situated on a campus but the main faculties are within the city centre. Students usually rent rooms in the city with fellow students.
The academic year in Mexico begins in mid-August. Completing your application is likely to involve expenses, eg for a medical consultation including blood tests and a visa. The air fare is likely to be costly.
In 2011/12 we have a new exchange in Chile, Universidad Católica de la Santísima Concepción (pwww.ucsc.cl).
