    LCS Erasmus students at Old Buckenham High School

    Cristina Alonso-Punter of LCS has pioneered a new activity in partnership with a Norfolk school. Since last Autumn semester, she has arranged for LCS students visiting us on the Erasmus scheme to go to the school one day a week where they work as language assistants on a voluntary basis. Read more

    Short Film subtitled by LCS student

    Norfolk Museums and Archaeology Service have launched a short film featuring the artist Hubert Duprat discussing his work. The French artist's work is the subject of a new exhibition at Norwich Castle Museum and Art Gallery which begins on 14 May. MA in Applied Translation Studies student Catherine McGinty shared the work of translating and subtitling Duprat’s commentary. Read more

  • Research Seminars

    This series has two aims. One aim is to provide an opportunity for UEA colleagues and students to attend presentations focused on issues of cross-cultural communication and translation studies, the two main areas of research in LCS. The other aim is to connect with guests from the local community who have an interest in the topic addressed and can offer valuable perspectives, thus widening the impact of the research while, at the same time, contributing to the development of the research itself. Read more

  • Wednesdays or Thursdays from 5-7pm Room A2.08 except 24 March when the workshop runs from 6-8 pm. These workshops are free and open to the public. MA students should note that certain workshops are compulsory for MALT/MAATS students.

    Edited by Roger Baines, Cristina Marinetti and Manuela Perteghella, Staging and Performing Translation: Text and Theatre Practice explores the territory between translation theory and practice in contemporary theatre. Featuring contributions by academics from theatre and translation studies, as well as translators, directors, actors, dramaturges and literary managers, and an interview with playwright-translator-adapter Christopher Hampton, this collection attempts to delineate a new space for the discussion of translation in the theatre that is international, critical and scholarly while rooted in experience and understanding of theatre practice. Read more
