Learning a language at UEA couldn’t be easier, UEA has a great reputation in the field of languages and the lecturers and other staff are friendly and approachable.

Beginners language courses offered in Summer 2012:

Start dates:


Evening classes begin week commencing 14 May 2012. They are subject to a minimum enrolment of six students. These classes take place once a week over a six-week period. The classes run from 5:40pm to 7:40pm unless otherwise noted.

BEGINNERS 1 CLASSES: These language courses are suitable for people with no prior knowledge of the language, who would like to use it for holiday and/or work-related purposes. By the end of this course you will be able to formulate simple sentences in a conversational setting, and understand written and spoken information at a basic level.

One-to-one and small group language courses

These courses are very popular with individuals who have to fit learning a language around a busy schedule or for those who want intensive or individual tuition. The one-to-one or small group setting will accelerate your learning, because the tutor can teach you at your individual pace, thus taking advantage of your existing strengths. Additionally, we offer specially designed courses for businesses who are seeking to establish, or already have, links abroad. Course content will be discussed in advance and tailored to suit your particular requirements.

Fees from £50 per hour.

Fees include use of the language resource centre but you may have to purchase a textbook.
