We offer up to five internships working with the East of England Brussels Office to final year undergraduate students.

Students work as Policy Officers for the region, identifying relevant issues in European Union legislation.

  • These internships are targeted at students who have completed modules in European Union politics.
  • They can form part of a final year module or can be carried out during vacations.
  • Contributions towards expenses are available.

The five placements in Brussels, each of one month's duration, will focus on training & development and understanding the many opportunities and jobs at the international level suitable for language students.  For example the work of the East of England Office can bring students into contact with the European Parliament, MEPs and their staff, the European Commission and Council of the EU, lobbying, activist and other third sector groups, and with other regional offices of which there are more than 200 in Brussels.

These training placements are unpaid, however the School will contribute up to £300 towards travel and accommodation.

Each intern will undertake a variety of tasks such as researching issues and analysing reports, preparing information, keeping the East of England Brussels Office website up to date, translating from the student's study language, attending and participating in events and other activities.  The day to day working language of the Office is English although other European languages are also used.  Work will be organised for each LCS intern so far as practical in the preferred study language and where possible interns will spend time in other Brussels based organisations where the working language is not English.  The latter will depend on specific work available when the placement is undertaken.
