Biography

Gillian was called to the Bar in 1999 and joined the law faculty in 2003. Her academic interests include human rights, trial by jury and law and literature.  She teaches English Legal Process, EU Law, The European Convention on Human Rights and Introduction to American Law. She is Director of the LL.B Law with American Law programme and the Graduate Diploma in Law.

Academic Background

Gillian Daly graduated in 1997 from Balliol College, Oxford,  where she obtained a BA in Jurisprudence, First Class. In 1998, she was awarded a Commonwealth Scholarship and completed her LLM at the University of British Columbia, Canada, specialising in human rights law. She also holds an MA in Creative Writing from the University of East Anglia.

Teaching Interests

Gillian is Course Director for the Graduate Diploma in Law and the LLB Law with American Law.  She is module organiser for English Legal Process and Introduction to American Law.  She also teaches on EU Law and The European Convention on Human Rights.  She has substantial experience teaching Legal Skills, having previously taught Legal Method, Skills and Reasoning for a number of years.
