Alastair Mullis is a professor and Head of the Law School. He was educated at King's College London (LLB) and the University of Cambridge (LLM). After 11 years teaching at King's College London, he joined UEA Law School in 1999 and was first Dean and then Head of School from 2001 to 2006. He took up the post of Head of School again in August 2010. Alastair currently holds visiting chairs in Germany (Muenster), Thailand (Thammasat) and Tunisia (Faculte des Sciences Politiques, Juridiques et Sociales, Tunis II) and has previously held visiting chairs in the United States.
His main research interests lie in the law of defamation and aspects of international commercial law but he has also written extensively in the area of child sexual abuse. He is the general editor of Carter Ruck on Libel and Privacy and author of the chapters on the English law of defamation. Other recently published work includes articles on the UN Convention on International Sale of Goods and the law of defamation. Alastair Mullis is one of the specialist editors for Butterworths' Law of Tort and writes (with Donal Nolan) the annual review of tort cases for the All England Law Reports, Annual Review.
Alastair would be particularly interested in supervising research students in privacy and defamation, international sales, and Payments and / or the harmonisation of international commercial law.
