Funding
Funding for postgraduate research study is available both from UEA and from a number of external schemes. Applicants should note that many award schemes have early closing dates and may require the acceptance of the offer of a place as a condition of eligibility. If you wish to apply for funding please check the Faculty and School pages for individual studentship closing dates.

External Scholarship Schemes
Arts and Humanities Research Board
Home and EU research students may apply to the Arts and Humanities Research Board for graduate studentships, normally through the institution awarding their first degree. Details of these studentships can be obtained from the Arts and Humanities Research Board website.
Commonwealth Scholarships
The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the United Kingdom (CSUK) offers scholarship for applicants from Commonwealth countries. For further information please see "Postgraduate Study in the United Kingdom" and the "Commonwealth Shared Scholarships Scheme".
Chevening Scholarships
The Foreign and Commonwealth (FCO) Chevening programme provides funding opportunities for overseas students studying in the United Kingdom. For further information please see the Chevening website.

University Fully Funded PhD Studentships

Law

Social Sciences Faculty Research PhD Studentships are offered to prospective candidates from the academic year 2012/3.
The Studentships will be available under the Scheme to applicants who, in their research proposal, can clearly demonstrate academic excellence in areas relevant to the strategic interests of the School of Law, in particular Competition Law; Media, Information Technology and Intellectual Property; and the law of Public Protest.
Please see our Law Research Areas and Academic Profiles for more details, and for the research interests of individual members of staff. The Studentships cover tuition fees (UK/EU rates), a tax-free maintenance grant (currently £13,590 per year), and a research training support grant.
International students are welcome to apply but must be able to pay the difference between UK/EU fees and international fees. However in some limited cases the School may consider providing “top up” grants covering the international component of tuition fees if a student’s research topic is closely aligned to the strategic interests of the School. Applicants are invited from suitably qualified graduates.
Candidates should hold, or expect to hold, a minimum of at least a good 2.1 degree and preferably a Research Masters degree or equivalent. EU and International applicants may be required to provide evidence of competence in the English Language.
To be considered for this award, you should make an application for admission to an MPhil/PhD in the normal manner, but you should indicate the intention to be considered for an open studentship under the Postgraduate Studentships Scheme.

CCP Studentship 2011-14
The ESRC Centre for Competition Policy (CCP) based at the University of East Anglia, invites applications for a fully funded (3-year) PhD studentship from October 2011. This studentship can be held in an area of competition or regulation policy appropriate for supervision by the Centre’s faculty members who come from the Schools of Economics, Law, Business and Political, Social and International Studies. The Centre is the leading focus for competition policy research in the UK and welcomes interdisciplinary proposals.
