The Studios

The studios are being refurbished in the summer of 2012. The information below describes the current studios. The pages will be updated in due course.

Television studio:

Filming taking place in Film Studio
The University's TV Studio primarily supports teaching in the celebrated School of Film, Television and Media Studies (FTM). The television studio is well equipped with 4 x JVC 550E digital cameras, fully sound proofed and with a 24 light system.

The studio has a working area of approximately 10mt x 9mt x 4.25mt to the lighting gantry. The gallery is fully equipped with a vision and audio mixing facility.

Audio studio:

Audio Studio Voice-overs, audio presentations and programmes requiring a professional end product can be recorded by us in our custom built studio. Audio post production can be carried out on our broadcast Avid edit suite.






Post production:

Digital edit suite in use for post production editingWe have four Avid digital edit suites available to students and staff, subject to training and availability.





Video and audio duplication:

We can copy from and to: DVD, VHS, S-VHS, Low Band Umatic, Hi Band SP, DV Cam, Betacam SP. We can copy from and to: CD, Cassette, DAT, Mini Disk. For more information contact Eva Roberts

Video standards conversion:

We can convert from any of the above formats to VHS - NTSC and VHS - SECAM. or from VHS - NTSC and DV Cam NTSC to any of the above PAL formats.  For more information contact Eva Roberts

Off-Air recording:

Programmes can be recorded under the terms of the ERA (EDUCATIONAL RECORDING AGENCY) licence for educational use.
TV Programmes can be recorded from normal analogue TERRESTRIAL (i.e.. BBC1 & 2 - ITV1 - C4 & 5) and DIGITAL FREEVIEW (i.e.. BBC3 & 4 - ITV2 & 3 & 4 - E4 - More4 - Film4). Normal analogue RADIO programmes are also recordable. You can book this facility through the IT Helpdesk.
