ARTISTIC WORK:
- a graphic work, photograph, sculpture or collage, irrespective of artistic quality
- a work of architecture, including a building or a model for a building
- a work of artistic craftsmanship
within these definitions:
a building includes any fixed structure or part of a building or fixed structure
graphic works include: paintings; drawings; diagrams; maps; charts; plans; and engravings, etchings, lithographs, woodcuts or similar works
a photograph is a recording of light or other radiation on any medium on which an image is produced or from which an image may by any means be produced, and which is not part of a film
sculpture includes casts or models made for purposes of sculpture.
BROADCAST:
A transmission by wireless telegraphy of visual images, sounds or other information which is capable of being lawfully received by members of the public or is transmitted for presentation to members of the public.
CABLE PROGRAMME:
A transmission of visual images, sounds or other information by means of a telecommunications system (defined in the Copyright Act), otherwise than by wireless telegraphy, for reception

at two or more places (whether for simultaneous reception or at different times, or
-
for presentation to members of the public, subject to certain exceptions.
COPIES; COPYING:
- Reproduction of a literary, dramatic, musical or artistic work in any material form, including storing the work in any medium by electronic means
- reproduction of a two-dimensional artistic work in three dimensions, and reproducing a three-dimensional work in two dimensions
- in relation to a film, TV broadcast or cable programme, copying includes making a photograph of the whole or any part of any image forming a part of the work
- in relation to typographical arrangement copying includes making a facsimile copy of that arrangement
- in relation to any work, the making of copies transient or incidental to some other use of the work.
Reprographic copying means copying by a process for making facsimile copies or involving the use of an appliance for making multiple copies and includes any copying by electronic means (defined in the Copyright Act). Reprographic copying excludes the making of a film or sound recording.
The term facsimile copy includes reproductions enlarged or reduced in scale (such as microfilms).
DRAMATIC WORK :
A live performance distinguished, when recorded in writing, from a literary work in that it is intended to be performed or recited. Dramatic works include dance and mime.FILM:
A recording on any medium from which a moving image may by any means be produced (and therefore including video recordings and DVD).
LITERARY WORK:
Any work, other than a dramatic or musical work, which is written, spoken or sung and including
- a table or compilation
- a computer program and preparatory work for a computer program.
MUSICAL WORK :
A work consisting of music, exclusive of any words or action intended to be sung, spoken or performed with the music (these are literary or dramatic works).
