Maps and plans are artistic works for copyright purposes.

Copying includes photocopying, photography, scanning, and down-loading. In the case of a digital copy (scanned from hard copy or down-loaded) the file must not be networked or otherwise be accessible to other people; do not retain the file longer than is necessary for private study or research purposes. Don't forget to cite the source of any map that you use.
