Copyright legislation

Exploitation of copyright-protected media at UEA is governed by UK and EU copyright legislation currently in force. The core of this is the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 (CPDA 88). This act has been amended since 1988 by means of various Statutory Instruments. When referring to a text of the Act bear this in mind. The University Library holds sets of UK Statutes and Statutory Instruments and EU legislation. Some textbooks on copyright also include the text of the Copyright Act 1988.

The application of the Copyright Act 1988 to UEA is modified by the terms of the various licences that we hold.

Because of the complexity of knowing what you can and can’t do, UEA employs a copyright co-ordinatorwho is available to help any member of staff or student with copyright enquiries.
