On campus you will see general guidelines posted near reprographic equipment (photocopiers, scanners, fax machines). These deal with general personal photocopying, including faxing and scanning, and the making of multiple copies under licence. These notices will only give you basic information. For more detailed information and information on other uses of copyright material contact the copyright co-ordinator.
UEA’s copyright co-ordinator is Dave Palmer, contactable by telephone on extension 3523 (direct line 01603 593523), by e-mail <david.palmer@uea.ac.uk>, by snailmail (D.Palmer, LIB) or by a personal visit to the University Library (Office 1.21, Floor 1).
The copyright coordinator can give you information about
- copyright status of works
- the terms and conditions of licences to which the University is party
- the copyright implications of the use(s) you wish to make of copyright material
- protection of your own copyrights
and
- advise on whether or not an explicit permission is needed
- locate copyright owners
- assist in clearing copyright permissions, either through licensing schemes or by negotiation with individual copyright owners.
The copyright co-ordinator is UEA’s contact for the Copyright Licensing Agency (CLA), the Newspaper Licensing Agency (NLA), the Designers’ and Artists’ Copyright Society (DACS), the Educational Recording Agency (ERA), the Open University (in connection with off-air recording of programmes), and - in respect of copyright licensing - for the Ordnance Survey (OS). You are advised to employ the co-ordinator to deal with the CLA's CLARCS service if using it to clear permissions for courseware.
