The Archives and Special Collections Reading Room is situated on Floor 02 of the Library. All Special Collections items are described in the Library Catalogue.
Special Collections will be CLOSED from the 28th of March to the 2nd of April 2013.
Reading Room hours and material availability:
Requests for Special Collections items should be pre-booked using the on-line booking form, or requested in person at the Special Collections Reception desk.
Items requested before 09.15 will be available from 09.30 the same day.
Items requested before 13.45 will be available from 14.00 the same day.
If requested after 13.45 the items will be available from 09.30 the following day.
We will wherever possible endeavour to fulfill urgent requests at short notice.
SPECIAL COLLECTIONS ITEMS MAY ONLY BE READ IN THE READING ROOM.
THE READING ROOM IS OPEN 09.30-16.30 MONDAY-FRIDAY.

Collections:
Special Collections contains over 10,000 titles of rare, valuable or illustrated monographs and pamphlets in all subject areas.Special Collections includes a number of named collections:
YA: Illustrated books
A collection of mainly 19th and 20th century illustrated titles. There are about 600 titles in this collection.
YB: Broke collection (military science)
A collection of about 150 titles of 18th and 19th century military science.
YC: Abbott collection (English literature)
Claude Colleer Abbott (1889-1971) was Professor of English at the University of Durham 1932-1954, and earlier lectured at the University of Aberdeen. The collection of his works and Library contains about 1,500 titles.
YK: Ketton-Cremer collection (local history)
Robert Wyndham Ketton-Cremer (1906-1969), biographer and county historian who lived near Cromer at Felbrigg Hall. He wrote widely on Norfolk's history and personalities. He helped to promote the UEA which conferred upon him an honorary degree in 1969. The collection of his works and library contains about 1,000 titles.
YL: Kimber collection (local literature)
The collection contains about 500 titles which are either: about Norfolk and East Anglia, or have been written by Norfolk and East Anglian authors. It includes fiction from the UEA creative writing MA and works published by the UEA Schools of Literature and Creative writing (LIT) and American Studies (AMS).

Classmark NKA: Oriental art books - about 1,350 titles.
Classmark DAE 185:
The complete library editions of the Little and Great Domesday: comprising the counties of Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex, 2000. This is a record of a survey of the land in England, carried out by the Commissioners of William I in 1086.
