Each year the networking team undertake a series of projects or continue running programmes of replacement and improvement.
The programmes active in each year are as follows:
- 2011/12 Projects
Bringing on-stream a replacement DNS/DHCP solution, floors 4 and 5 of UEA London as well as on-going support for the Admin Integration Programme. - 2010/11 Projects
Activities move on to looking at developing the campus DNS and DHCP provision as well as bringing on stream the extension to Academic Building East which has now been called the Thomas Paine Study Centre. - 2009/10 Projects
The final year for wireless installations and the recabling work within Biology. New builds such as Academic Building East and the university's new London Study Centre also feature. - 2008/9 Projects
The first round of switch replacements, mopping up various areas of campus with respect to wireless and bring on-stream direct connections to the new Computer Suite. - 2007/8 Projects
Including a fresh draft of the Network Strategy, further wireless and switch replacements and development of the network with respect to media features such as multicasting IPTV and a trial of an expandable campus Voice-over-IP solution. - 2006/7 Projects
These include consolidation, with areas such as wireless obtaining further roll outs into new buildings and the University's second computer suite. The year also includes a number of projects under the banner of D'Arcy Thompson involving a number of the schools in and around the Science Building. -
2005/6 Projects
These include enhancing residences security, deployment of commercial VoIP solution to Halls, roll out of wireless, continuing resilience and switch replacement. Replacement of cabling in AHP (Queens' Building) and Elizabeth Fry. - 2004/5 Projects
These include firewalls, traffic shapers, introduction of broadband rate limiting in residences, start of campus resilience, deployment of switches to CRU, ENV and MTH.
