The Networking Team in ITCS support the technical aspect of all voice and data communications across campus. The ultimate end devices on these cables are the responsibility of others on campus such as Departmental IT/building support, ITCS Desktop Services, the ITCS Systems Team and Estates.
The Services
The Network Team provide the following services from the ISD Service Catalogue:
- Management directory services (S04-20)
DNS, DHCP and NetReg
- JANET and offsite connections (S05-34)
Links to other universities and the Internet as well as the university's remote locations
- Campus wired connections (S05-48)
Cabled connections in academic and related buildings
- Remote access (S05-53)
VPN service
- Residences network (S05.57)
IPTV and broadband networking in the residence blocks
- Telephony infrastructure (S05-61)
VoIP, analogue and voicemail service
- Wireless network (S05-72)
Wireless connectivity in academic and related buildings and, increasingly, in residences
There are a number of on-line networking helpsheets and more general IT FAQs that include details of our networking services. In addition there are a number of projects that are undertaken by the team to update and provide new services.

This small team covers the 340 acre University campus (and beyond) in support of the electronic communication needs of the University including the approximate 4000 study bedrooms.
