Welcome to the Library of the School of Nursing Sciences (NSC) at King's Lynn. The Library is a fully integrated branch of the University of East Anglia Library, containing specialist material to support the areas of study and research in NSC. This includes books, periodicals and databases.

Opening hours:

Monday and Friday 09:00-17:00
Tuesday & Thursday  09:00-18:00
Wednesday (Late Night) 09:00-20:00
Closes at 18:00 during July & August

When there is only one member of staff on duty (due to holiday, sickness, etc.) the Library will close for lunch between 13.00-13.45 and it may be occasionally not be possible to open after 17.00. If you are making a special journey to the Library please telephone in advance to check opening hours (Tel. 01553 613959).

Membership and borrowing entitlements:

Staff and students of the University are entitled to borrow from the collection on production of their Campus Card.

NSC students may borrow up to 10 items; NSC staff may borrow up to 20 items. These limits include items borrowed from the Main University Library.

All NSC students and staff are entitled to use the facilities of the Main University Library. All library cards issued at the King's Lynn Library are valid in these libraries. Library fines may be paid at either site.

Loan periods:


Ordinary loans

NSC staff 3 return dates per year

All borrowers 7 days

Students and staff from other UEA Schools will have the same loan periods as they have in the Main Library. You should return or renew items by the due date; Fines are levied for late returns. We do  send out overdue reminders, but the responsibility for returning items on time is entirely yours.

Renewals:

Books may be renewed in person or by telephone. NSC students may renew standard loan books up to a maximum number of eight times. NSC staff may renew standard loan books up to a maximum number of four times.   Items reserved by another borrower cannot be renewed.

UEA Staff and Research Postgraduate Renewals:

All UEA staff and Research Postgraduates may now renew standard loan items for the next loan period from Thursday 20th of December.  Renewal is possible by the Self service machine in the library; telephoning 01553 613959 during staffed hours; via PrimoOneSearch or the Library Catalogue by logging into "My Account" with your UEA Username and Password.  The new return date will be Thursday 30th May 2013.  Please contact the King's Lynn Library issue and enquiry desk  with any queries on 01553 613959.

Reservations:

Items in the King's Lynn Library Catalogue which are on loan to another borrower may be reserved. Items which are not in stock at King's Lynn but which are available in another UEA Library may also be reserved; the item will be sent to King's Lynn for your use. However, it is not normally possible to reserve items from another Library if the King's Lynn Library has copies, even if these are on loan. Fines:

Items which are returned or renewed after the due date are subject to overdue fines at the rate of 20p per day per item for ordinary loans and 40p per day per item for 7 day loans.

Items
which are recalled are subject to a fine of 60p per day if they are not returned by the new due date stated on the recall notice.

Fines which are not paid after 4 weeks or which are above £10.00 will result in a withdrawal of borrowing privileges until the debt is cleared. Non-payment will result in an invoice being raised for the full amount of fines owing, plus a handling charge of £2.00.
Prolonged failure to return library material will result in an invoice being raised for the full replacement cost of the material and for any fines due; such invoices will also carry a handling charge of £5.00 per item.

Interlending material: late returns will be fined at the rate of 40p per working day. Prolonged failure to return this material will result in an invoice for the full replacement cost from the lending institution.

Periodicals:

Periodicals (or journals) cannot be borrowed, but, subject to copyright regulations articles may be photocopied on the self-service photocopier in the Trust Library next door (at a cost of 5p per A4 page or 10p per A3 page).

It may be possible to obtain items which are not available in the UEA Library system from another library. Please see library staff for further information.
