We are involved in a number of Learning Technology projects at the University and nationally. Here are details about 3 current projects we are involved in.
QR Codes are two dimensional barcodes. Many mobile camera phones with internet access can decipher these barcodes and provide the user with information or redirect them to a website. The QR Code on this page takes you to the Learning Technology @ UEA blog.
UEA is partnering with the University of Bath and several other institutions on a JISC Teaching and Learning Innovation project to explore how QR Codes can be used in higher education to support learning, teaching and administration. We will be coordinating several pilot projects throughout the year.
Elluminate is an online collaboration tool available via Blackboard or as a stand alone web solution. You can create real-time sessions or rooms to which participants are invited, whether they are internal or external to UEA. Elluminate sessions can be used for a variety of purposes in teaching, research and administration as well as public and community engagement.
UEA has a licence for Elluminate until the end of July 2013 to pilot the software and evaluate its usefulness to the institution. Read more
Audience response systems are a simple and easy way to increase student interaction and participation. Students respond using the handheld 'clickers' to questions posed as part of a PowerPoint presentation in lectures, seminars or tutorials, the results of which are immediately displayed as a graph.
UEA will be working as a partner institution with the University of Edinburgh on a JISC Teaching and Learning Innovation project about audience response systems (also called electronic voting systems). The Electronic Voting Analysis for All (EVAF4All) project aims to develop a web-based tool for students and staff to get feedback ondata captured from lectures or seminars using audience response systems.
Try it out : we have 144 handsets and 4 receivers that people can borrow to try out this system. Read more
