The LaRC houses a range of IT resources, including three networked workstations, a dedicated multimedia machine, scanners, a laser printer and audiovisual resources which are available to UEA staff and research postgraduates on a drop-in basis.
Networked workstations
The workstations all have Microsoft Office Applications and an Internet connection and there are two A4 scanners available to use.Multimedia machine
The dedicated multimedia machine is an Apple iMac. In addition to Microsoft office applications, a graphics tablet and a scanner, the following software packages are available on this machine:- iMovie
- iPhoto
- Adobe Photoshop 7
- Macromedia Director MX
- Macromedia Dreamweaver MX
- Macromedia Fireworks MX
- Macromedia Flash MS
Starboard (Interactive Whiteboard)
Within the iLab is a 60" Interactive Whiteboard. Using either your finger or the Starboard pen on the whiteboard screen you can:- operate the PC
- write text or draw images directly onto the PC screen
- set up an interactive whiteboard, and using the tools provided, write and draw on the machine, create new pages and move between pages
- show and annotate a file, such as a PowerPoint presentation
Both the content of the whiteboard and an annotated file can be saved as a html, pdf, PowerPoint or starboard software file.

Audio Visual resources
The following resources are available:- A TV-video combi unit to watch videos from the collection.
- DVDs can be viewed and screen shots captured using any of the workstations.
- Equipment to copy VHS to DVD. Please ask at the Archives and LaRC Reception Desk for the remote control and copying instructions. - A tape cassette player to listen to tapes within the collection. Please request use of the tape cassette player at the Archives and LaRC Reception Desk.
