External Borrowers

Our primary aim is to support students and staff of the University in all areas of their study and research. We are also happy to provide access to many of our services for individual researchers, and members of the local community where appropriate.

The information below is for members of the public who wish to make use of Library facilities at the University of East Anglia INCLUDING borrowing rights. If you only wish to visit the Library and not to borrow materials then we also have information for visitors.

External membership may be approved after the receipt of a V2b application form or V2c application form and covering letter.  All applications are approved at the discretion of the library management.

We are planning changes to our external borrower scheme as part of a wider review of library services aimed at improving resource availability for UEA staff and students.  In order to allow for a smooth transition to the new scheme cards applied for from 1 March 2013 will run for a reduced period at a reduced fee.  Full details can be found here.

External membership of UEA entitles the user to borrow from the Main Library Collection only (excluding items in the High Demand Collection, AV Resources and reference material). There is also no access to Interlending Services. Further information is available at entitlements and loan periods.

Visitor access to electronic resources

This service enables visitors to UEA Library access to a limited range of electronic resources, dependent on the terms of our licensing agreements. Further information

Apart from the Visitor Access Service mentioned above access to electronic resources and to IT facilities is available only to members of the University.
