Access to our e-resources such as electronic journals is limited by the terms of our licences to registered staff and students of the University with UEA username and password. Our 'Visitor Access Service' provides visitors to UEA Library access to a limited range of electronic resources, dependent on the terms of our licensing agreements.
1. When you arrive at the Library, please ask at the Reception Desk to use the ‘Visitor Access Service’.
2. You will need to show your External Borrower Card, your Access Only Card or your Day Pass when you sign up to use this service.
3. You will be allocated a username and password for the day once you have read and signed to show your agreement to our ‘Conditions of Computer Use’
4. Based on feedback from a visitor survey we conducted in Spring 2009 , we have limited the number of visitor usernames available each day. These will be issued on a first come first served basis. There are only 2 PCs available for the ‘Visitor Access Service’. These are located near the IT Help Desk.
6. The username and password are only to be used to access our e-resources. You are not permitted access to e-mail, Microsoft Office software, or general use of the internet.
7. You can save information to a USB stick.
8. The username will work for the rest of the day. At the end of the day the password will be reset.
9. Library staff are only able to provide minimal support to individuals using this service. The resources have extensive online help pages and we would expect you to make use of these.
The service is only available during our core and restricted staffed opening hours i.e.09:00 - 19:00 Monday - Friday and 11:00 – 19:00 at weekends.
Visitors from other universities should first check to see whether they can use the Janet Roaming Service (Eduroam) instead as this may better meet their needs.
Access to the service is only available on 2 PCs located near the IT Help Desk.
