Changes to off campus access / access using your own device

The university is rolling out a new login page that will provide single sign-on to many internal and external resources.Once you have signed on to one of these resources using the new login page, you will not be prompted for your password when you access other connected resources within the same session.

Library Electronic Resources

One of the main places this will be used is when a login is required to access online resources such as e-books, periodicals, journal articles and other online materials.

Migration process

In the first batch of resources to migrate, some publishers have chosen to make these changes already, others are expected to migrate during the next few months.

The first batch of resources to start using the new login page will be:

The second batch of resources is expected to migrate before the summer. If the resource you are using is not listed in the table above, it is likely to be in the second batch, and no changes have yet been made to the log-in process.

These pages will be updated as changes occur.

What changes to expect?

For these resources which have migrated, you'll notice some changes. The log-in page (Athens) used to look like this:

Athens login screen

Now the login page, will look like this:
login page for Federated access

Looking for the link to get to this page?

Remember, in order to get to this new page, you will need to look for a log-in link on the web page of article/e-resource. Publishers do not have a standard location for this, so look for a link probably called "UK Federation" or "Institutional login" or "Shibboleth" or even just "log-in".

Again, the page you will re-directed to is not standardized between publishers, so you may need to select, or search for, a link to the UK Federation and then select from a drop down list, or search for, a link to University of East Anglia. This will re-direct you to the new UEA log-in page.

Not seeing these pages?

If you are on a campus PC and using IE or Chrome, you will not see the login screen and will be automatically logged in.

Primo OneSearch, MetaLib and the Library catalogue will be updated with links that will take you straight to the resource, but if you choose to access these resources another way, you may find that some present you with a page like this upon attempting to log in:

Choose your organisation

Simply start to type "University of East Anglia (UEA)" or select it from the list and you will be taken to the new login page. Your selection will be remembered the next time you come to this page.
