Please note: the way that you sign in to Library e-resources is changing. Read about how this will affect you |
On campus access to the majority of UEA e-resources is provided without having to enter a username and password, because they are within the UEA domain (IP range). When you are off campus you will need to prove that you are a UEA student or member of staff in order to access our subscription e-resources.
UEA offers the following authentication services for accessing e-resources off campus:
Athens
Athens does not require a separate username and password; instead you should use your UEA username and password when prompted to sign in to an e-journal or database site. In order for the login to be successful, you must first permit cookies from the Athens site. Students and staff can set up a VPN, or Virtual Private Network on their own PC. A VPN means that your remote computer will act, and have access to similar facilities, as when plugged in on campus. You only need to use the VPN software on your home machine if you need to access resources on the UEA network that can't be accessed via the web. In practice, there are very few e-resources that cannot be accessed via Athens or EzProzy off-campus. Read more
Please note that neither Athens nor EzProxy provide links to all e-resources available to UEA students and staff. Primo OneSearch and MetaLib provide a comprehensive list of all subscribed electronic resources.
