What is in the Library External Store?
Pre-1980 science journals and all pre-1975 non-science journals, plus closed runs of journals in all subject areas have been transferred to the store. There are some exceptions to this broad division, particularly in non-science subjects.
How do I know if a journal will be in the External Store?
All journals held in the External Store are included in the
Library Catalogue or
Primo OneSearch and it is clearly indicated which volumes are in the External Store and which are in the Main Library.
How do I request journal volumes that I wish to consult?
Journal volumes held in the Library External Store can be requested to consult in the Main Library (Reference only) and there is a daily collection.
Request can be made:
- By completing a request form at the Library Helpdesk
- By telephone to the Library Helpdesk (01603) 592993.
- Via an online booking form.
- Journal volumes requested before 11am on weekdays will be available to collect at the Library Helpdesk by noon on the same day. Requests made after 11am on weekdays or at weekends will be available by noon on the next weekday.
