Curriculum and Learning Resources Collection

The Curriculum and Learning Resources Collection (CLRC) is housed on Floor 1 of the Library and is a wide-ranging collection of classroom resources provided by the School of Education and Lifelong Learning for its PGCE students. Items in the collection can be found using Primo OneSearch.

The collection is open to everyone on a reference only basis, but borrowing is limited to staff and students of the School of Education and Lifelong Learning. The loan period is either 6 weeks or 1 week depending on the item and items can be reserved if already on loan. Unlike most other library materials, items from CLRC cannot be recalled from another borrower.

CLRC has its own classification system, with items having a classmark of LT. The collection is arranged by subject area and within each subject area by age group, then by specific topic. The material includes textbooks, videos, compact discs, books on specific topics, wall charts and items such as globes, giant dice and dominoes and historical and religious artefacts.

Some of these items are housed in the Archives because they contain either genuine historical artefacts or  many small items considered too vulnerable for open access. These items can be found on the Library Catalogue by looking for either  'suitcase' or 'storysack' as a title search.

These items are available for loan to relevant staff and students but must be requested in advance at the Library Helpdesk.
