Collecting hold requests
Hold requests waiting to be collected are situated in the High Demand Collection on Floor 0. Items can be collected any time during library opening hours.In order to find your hold on the shelf, you will need to know your Patron ID number. This number is unique to you and can be found on the notice you received to advise the hold was available.
Hold requests must stay within the High Demand Collection area of the Library until they have been issued onto your Library account.
Requesting items
You may request up to five items yourself from Primo OneSearchWhen you have found the book you want in Primo OneSearch, click on live holdings to find out about the availability of individual copies. If the book is on loan, the screen will show a due date and there is an option to request.
Is the due date less than 14 days ahead?
You may place a hold request on the book. The book will be held for you when it is returned. The current borrower will not be able to renew it.To place a hold request:
- Click on "Request" to the left of the item that you wish to reserve.
- Fill in the requested information to identify yourself.
- You are then presented with a screen where it is possible to change the end date of the period of interest and then click on GO.
Is the book currently being catalogued or processed?
You can make the request in the usual way, and if you note the details and speak to a member of staff at the Library Helpdesk in some cases it may be possible for the item to be ready to collect by the end of the following day.Is the due date more than 14 days ahead?
You may wish to have the book recalled. Please note the details of the book and go to the Library Helpdesk where staff will do this for you. (You cannot recall items yourself, and we do not recall items due back in less than fourteen days.) If you are happy to wait until the due date, proceed as above.How will I know when my hold request is available to collect?
When an item that you have requested comes in, either an email or paper notice will be sent to you; you will normally have seven days to collect the item.How can I check what I have requested and my place in the queue?
You can check your requests by selecting the option "My Account" in Primo OneSearch. First, you will need to sign in by clicking on the option 'Sign in' in the top right hand corner. Once you have accessed My Account the option "Hold requests" will show you a list of your outstanding reservations, and where you are in the queue; you can also cancel reservations from this screen. To cancel requests click on request number and then click on the delete button.Please note
You will not be able to request items from another UEA Library. If you require an item located in the Nursing and Midwifery Library at King's Lynn, ask at the Library Helpdesk.You will not be able to request items that are not on loan apart from new books that are not yet available on the shelves.
You will not be able to request items that are in the High Demand Collection. However, you are able to book High Demand items in advance.
If you no longer need an item that you have requested, please cancel the request, or let the Library Helpdesk know as soon as possible
