BSc Business Economics
My name is Elizaveta and I am a second year Business Economics student from Moscow. After finishing my Foundation course I had to choose where to continue my studies and through research I found UEA. My attention was attracted by the university’s high ranking across both UK and world statistics. At UEA you have the opportunity to learn about whatever interests you and I have also discovered that students are allowed to study a number of optional subjects. As well as choosing to come here after seeing how well UEA performs in both national and international education statistics, UEA was also recommended to me by a number of friends who were already studying here. When I came to actually visit UEA campus itself my decision was made! There is a real sense of freedom for all students at UEA which is down to the multicultural environment of the university. UEA gives students the exciting opportunity to make friends from all over the world and to learn all about cultures from other countries. Throughout the year different nations can demonstrate their culture through the organisation of various festivals and events. You can listen to songs from Brunei, watch traditional dances from Japan and even try food from Hong Kong. All of these things make UEA a very special place for international students.
The British education system is quite different from the Russian system. Here independent research and self study are necessary parts of being a student. In order to help with this there are some fantastic resources on campus, for example there is a library that is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The library is not the only place on campus for quiet study either; you can always find a friend and space in individual study rooms to debate various topics and tell each other about what you are studying.
Social life is another important aspect of student life. At UEA you can find societies and clubs to suit all interests, whatever they may be. I am a member of the Dance and Yoga Societies. In addition to training, societies often go out or celebrate festivals together.
UEA is based on the outskirts of Norwich city centre, just 2 hours by train from London. Norwich itself has lots of things to do - shopping, clubbing, bars and cafes can all be found in the city. Small streets with vintage shops and tea rooms are the best after a hard working week.
If you are thinking of coming to study at UEA I would be more than happy to help with any enquiries and can be contacted either via the facebook page - Russian Students or emailed directly at russianstudents@uea.ac.uk
I look forward to seeing you at UEA!
BSc in Business Management
Being a UEA student I have learnt to critically examine every issue, so I can form my own opinion on the question basing on the various approaches studied. Moreover, studying in a multinational environment develops a better understanding of cultural diversity and promotes a more complex attitude to different aspects. The flexible nature of the course allows me as a student to choose the subjects I am particularly interested in, which encourages my further specialization. Along with lectures, where the most recent topics are observed, seminars are an essential part of the majority of the courses. It allows students to develop a better understanding of an issue via discussions and examination of the real cases. Whenever students face any difficulties there is always someone to help. It could be Professors, if students struggle with the difficult issues or Teaching Office and Academic Advisors, who will advise students on a large variety of questions.
Apart from studying there is wonderful social life. Students living on campus have an opportunity to make many international friends. There are numerous Societies and clubs to join to meet people who share the same interests. For those, who are into sport there is an award-winning Sportspark providing various courses. Norwich itself is one of the safest cities in the UK with a very warm friendly atmosphere. I really enjoy its small streets, green parks, the atmosphere of tranquility and pacification which big cities lack. However, when you are tired of such pace of life there is always an opportunity to travel around the country, to visit different cities.
As a whole, my years at UEA are a perfect illustration of that student’s years is the best time in humans life.
MA Development Studies
I chose UEA because of its high ratings in the field of International Development both in the UK and overseas. Excellent teaching program and studying opportunities as well as amazing lecturers involved in worldwide research have given me a unique chance to greatly enrich my knowledge in the field. Multicultural and interactive environment in the School also has helped me view development issues from different perspectives.
My studying at UEA has been unforgettable not only because of academic achievements. I would say that it has been a great life experience full of exciting events and acquaintances. I have met a lot of interesting people and made many international friends with whom I enjoy my time here. I am sure we will stay friends for life. There is a genuine friendly atmosphere demonstrated by all the members of UEA life that it is impossible not to enjoy your time. Living on campus situated in a picturesque place is highly convenient and makes your busy student life less complicated.
As for everyone, student life can be sometimes challenging, especially if you are a foreign student used to a different academic culture. But be sure you will definitely enjoy your being here!Approved UEA agents in Russia:
