Jonathan Pattenden to present paper at Oxford University as part of the Contemporary South Asia Seminar Series
Jonathan Pattenden will be at Oxford University’s Queen Elizabeth House next Thursday (20th February), presenting on ‘Classes of Labour in Karnataka, India’ as part of the Contemporary South Asia Seminar Series.
Dr Pattenden has just returned from an international seminar on ‘Agrarian Transition in India’ at Pondycherry University (India), where he presented a paper entitled ‘Classes of Labour and Dynamics of Accumulation and Exploitation in Rural Karnataka’. Prior to that he was at the Foundation for Agrarian Studies conference on Agrarian Issues in Kochi, India, where he acted as discussant (January 2014). He also attended the Indian Society for Labour Economics conference at Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi, and was part of a panel on ‘Researching Class’ at the Historical Materialism conference in London in late 2013, where he presented a paper entitled ‘Dynamic Determinations: A class-relational approach to social policy in India.’
