International Institute for Environment and Development: Equity in biodiversity conservation and REDD+ [Dr. Phil Franks]
Dr. Phil Franks, International Institute for Environment and Development: Equity in biodiversity conservation and REDD+
Dr. Franks talk will build on his recent work which explores methods to assess the impacts of protected areas for biodiversity conservation (through the Social Assessment of Protected Areas project) and issues of equity in Reduced Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation schemes (see report links below). The talk will be followed by a round table discussion involving Dilys Roe (also from IIED) alongside Neil Dawson, Adrian Martin, Iokine Rodriguez, Thomas Sikor and Poshendra Satyal from the School of International Development. Using insights from their own research into justice and equity, participants will address the question of how researchers can promote justice in environmental management.
