EJDR Early Career Editor- call for expressions of interest
The European Journal of Development Research (EJDR) is a multi-disciplinary journal that seeks to broaden our understanding of the processes that advance or impede human development, whether from a political, economic, sociological or anthropological perspective.
The EJDR is an ISI-rated journal, and is part of the European Association of Development Institutes (EADI).
EJDR has long recognised the need to provide a forum for the publication of original and high quality research by individuals that are early in their research career. Recognising that early career researchers can face particular challenges in getting their work published in peer-reviewed journals, whether due to lack of experience and/or lack of access to peer support, the EJDR is seeking to appoint an Early Career Editor who will focus on submissions by individuals that are early in their career (nominally defined as having completed their PhD within the last five years) to join our thriving editorial team.
We are looking for a research-active scholar with 10 years' experience of publishing and reviewing for high-ranking journals. In order to complement our existing editorial team, we are interested in those with both qualitative and quantitative experience across the development studies spectrum
The co-editor will join an active team of editors. The Early Careers editor will receive financial support to promote the journal at relevant international conferences. In addition, specific responsibilities for the Early Careers Editor role are:
- Promoting the EJDR as a journal with a particular interest in publishing the output of early career researchers
- Providing additional support and feedback to authors making submissions, including prior to sending papers for review and in the event of desk rejection
- Managing EJDR's book reviews section, by being the point of contact for Publishing Houses interested in having relevant books reviewed, and by coordinating the work of academics interested in reviewing these books
To be considered for this role, please email your curriculum vitae (including a list of any awards and publications) with a covering letter detailing why you are interested in the role to: Natalia Lorenzoni, Managing Editor, European Journal of Development Research firstname.lastname@example.org.
Closing date for receipt of expressions of interest: 31st January 2017
