DEV students given the opportunity to gain an insight into UK Politics and Government

27/02/2014

DEV students have the opportunity to meet UEA graduates who work in UK parliament and central government, as part of a PSI-run event that has been opened to UEA students of International Development. There will be tours of the House of Commons and House of Lords, as well as a chance to meet and network with MPs, their staff and those in the civil service. This unique opportunity will give students with a genuine interest a taste for what a career in UK politics and government is really like. Government departments represented include: Home Office, Energy and Climate Change, Ministry of Defence.

There are just 15 places remaining and we want to take only the most genuinely motivated candidates. Therefore, please respond to the question below (in up to 250 words) BEFORE MIDDAY ON WED 5 MARCH

You will hear the outcome by Monday 10 March. Email your response to: Justine.mann@uea.ac.uk

If a place is offered to you, you’ll need to bring a £10 deposit to Careers by 12th  March, 5pm to secure it. This is for your coach place and is non-returnable if you don’t attend.

On the day, the coach will depart UEA at 7am and return at 8.30pm so it’s a full on day.

Please state in 250 words why you are interested in the visit and how you intend to make the most of it.

Please note: As the Civil Service and the UK Parliament only recruits UK and EEA citizens and some Commonwealth citizens who meet immigration rules - and given places are so few - we will prioritise applications from students of those nationalities (http://faststream.civilservice.gov.uk/application-process/eligibility-requirements/).
