Biography

Maria's main research topic has always been development finance. She has linked it with development banks, sustainable development and the water sector. Her regional interests are the European Union and Latin America. Her current research topic is “Water finance in a new financial era: Conflicting interests in financing water projects and their implications for the sustainable development of the water sector”, which she has been developing as part of her PhD at UEA, funded by the Mexican Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT). 

Academic Background

Maria Marquez Dorantes has a multidisciplinary background. She holds a Bachelor Honour in International Relations from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and a Master of Research in International Development from the University of East Anglia (UEA).  She also has studies in Economics at bachelor and postgraduate level at UNAM.
