Biography
Ignacio has worked as National Consultant for FAO in Mexico, as well as for Intervención Estratégica Consultores S.A. a Mexico City-based consulting firm. He has been lecturer of Economic Policy at Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (Mexico) and has participated as project researcher for the Research and Teaching Centre in Economics (CIDE, Mexico). He is member of the American Evaluation Association and the Association for Public Policy Analysis and Public Administration.
Currently Ignacio is postgraduate researcher of the School of International Development at University of East Anglia, UK. His research is sponsored by the National Council of Science and Technology of the Mexican Government (CONACYT).
Academic Background
Ignacio is Economist graduated with honours in the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (Mexico). He holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Public Administration from the Research and Teaching Centre in Economics (CIDE, Mexico) as well as a Master’s in Research degree in International Development from The University of East Anglia (UEA, UK). As postgraduate student he participated in an exchange program with the School of Public Affairs of the University of Baltimore, (UB, USA).
Current Research Project
Title: Decentralising Rural Development: A case study of the implementation process of the Sustainable Rural Development Act in Mexico.
The aim of this research is to understand the institutional change across the implementation process of a decentralized policy into a context where organizational structures traditionally worked under centralist logic. The research design is based on a case study of the implementation of the Sustainable Development Act which was created in 2001, by Mexican Congress to face the challenges of rural development in Mexico.
