Biography
I am a postgraduate researcher interested in understanding the affects of conflict experience on the reintegration of individuals into communities in Northern Uganda. I graduated from the University of East Anglia (UEA) with an MA in International Relations and Development Studies 2008, after which I spent the next two years working as an intern at a development research centre in Cambodia and as a research project manager in India, Ethiopia, Nigeria & Uganda. Having gained the experience to run large-scale research projects, I realised that I wanted to develop my own research interests further using some of the skills and techniques I had acquired and therefore decided to undertake a PhD. In 2011, I was awarded a Faculty of Social Science Studentship to study at the University of East Anglia, within the school of International Development.
Research interests
My current research focuses on the ways in which an individual’s conflict experience affects their ability to form of social ties amongst a reintegrating community. My proposed research will use a range of methodological approaches, including social network analysis, interviews, surveys and behavioural games to integrate social science and experimental data with social tie and conflict theory. This research will conduct a micro-level investigation of the consequence of conflict on social tie formation in post-conflict Northern Uganda and will allow for a greater understanding of how individual’ experience during a conflict affects wider reintegration.
