Academic Background
I hold an MSc DIC in Environmental Technology (Ecological Management) from Imperial College, London and a BSc in Biodiversity Conservation and Environmental Management from the University of Kent. My Masters dissertation examined local attitudinal values towards sacred groves in southwest Sichuan and the implications for conservation in the region.
I have worked in the field of natural resource management and international conservation policy, including implementation of CITES for plants with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, economic analysis of fisheries, and evaluation of economic incentives for conservation with INGOs.
I am funded by an interdisciplinary studentship from the UK Natural and Environmental Research Council (NERC) and the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).

I am a member of the Natural Resources, Environment and Livelihoods Research Group
Key Research Interests
I am an interdisciplinary postgraduate student interested in issues relating to natural resource management. My research interests currently focus on understanding the socio-economic impact of Payments for Ecosystem Services on resource-dependent communities in developing countries. I seek to understand how economic incentives for conservation actually operate at the grassroots level and their impacts on the lives and livelihoods of people involved.
